ECOPOL is a transnational public partnership that aims to accelerate the implementation of eco-innovation policies across Europe. ECOPOL’s mission is to find and test efficient tools for implementing eco-innovation policies at European, national and regional level. The main focus areas are Green Public Procurement as a powerful demand-side instrument, Waste & Recycling as a sector with a very heavy carbon footprint and high potential for business creation, and Internationalisation as a means to boost the growth of eco-innovators.
In these thematic areas, ECOPOL analyses how eco-innovation policies work in practice and how they could benefit from mutual benchmarking. Based on these experiences, pilot actionswill be launchedin the partner countries and recommendations will be formulated on the implementation of eco-innovation policies and instruments.
In order to increase the understanding of eco-innovation dynamics and the role of public policies in strengthening national or regional approaches, ECOPOL is identifying and collecting best practices at national and regional levels to distil the most effective and efficient approaches to supporting eco-innovation.
To ensure a representative sample and to optimise quality, the ECOPOL consortium is hereby inviting the PRO INNO Europe community to provide examples of successful eco-innovation policy practices and to comment on those already collected. ECOPOL also encourages PRO INNO Europe stakeholders to contribute to the general activities of ECOPOL by providing information on their pilot actions and tools they have developed and to give feedback on ECOPOL activities by sharing the experience gained so far.
